As an Intuitive Medium, I am extremely conscious of how people unknowingly/unconsciously give their power to others, especially during readings.
During a session, the client will pose a question, and I offer what is coming through. Many times, they will acknowledge that this is what they felt as well. On some occasions, they will then offer what someone else told them, which may or may not be the same. I reiterate that our future is constantly changing based on the choices we make, so it is necessary to tune in for ourselves.
Furthermore, it is VERY important to always practice discernment when you receive guidance, advice, and opinions from anyone, even when they are a friend or family member. Does the answer resonate with you? Is it validating what you already know and feel to be true for you? Sometimes, we hear what we want to hear, so we focus all of our energy on that. An example of this is when we are seeking a partner. A reader may offer a potential name, description and even time frame. Make a note of what you hear, but also be open to other experiences in the meantime. In other words, don’t put your life on hold waiting for this person to show up. This can also apply to a job, relocation, health issue, etc. Pose the question, but then practice discernment in regards to the response.
In addition, some people may try to control you or the choices you are making by offering what they think or feel is best for you. When you allow this to happen, you are either consciously or subconsciously giving your power away to another. Once again, does it feel true for you?
I always remind my clients to feel into what I say to them and encourage them to also spend time in reflection and go within to gain clarity on the situation for themselves. Tune in to your solar plexus chakra (abdominal area), which is the energetic center of our knowingness, also referred to as our “gut instinct.”
Listen to what your body is telling you as it is a great gauge. Pay attention to the sensations that you feel physically. Once your energy is centered, do you feel calm and peaceful or do you feel nervous and anxious as you think about the question – Is this right for me right now?
Therein lies your answer. All of the answers you seek can be found within if you take the time to listen.
