This is MY Journey

Image Copyright UnknownI am sitting here with my headphones on listening to “Where I Sit is Holy” sung by Shaina Noll while writing this blog.

“…Where I sit is Holy. Who I am is Holy. What I do is Holy…”

I first heard this song played at the Spiritualist church, The Journey Within on March 2, 2014. Studying mediumship with Tony Stockwell at Janet Nohavec’s church was a powerful experience. I look forward to returning once again in the fall.

This journey into consciousness has been and continues to be one of healing, growth, challenges and triumphs. My “buttons” have been pushed and my “triggers” triggered.

The question is – Am I learning the lessons that are being presented to me? Windows of Opportunity first came into my awareness when I met Sherri Cortland and read her book of the same name.

This past week has been a challenging one. My daughter graduated from high school a week ago. The weeks leading up to the day were filled with planning and preparation for the celebration afterward. I focused my energy on being present in the moment while at the same time taking care of everything that I needed to do. Once it was over, I was exhausted physically, mentally and emotionally.

My son graduated from college a few days ago. There was nothing I had to do other than travel and enjoy the day. I consciously stayed in a space of grace. However, one interaction triggered something very deep. While waiting for a table at a restaurant, I was making casual conversation. I mentioned I had just been in the city a few days earlier for a group reading. In that moment, my son is clearing his throat very loudly and giving me the eye.

I’ve been very conscious of not embarrassing those around me, especially my loved ones, because of the work that I do. I recognize that not everyone has the same belief system as me. I’m extremely mindful of word choices and what I do say. In doing so, I am dimming my Light, and I “justify” my actions by saying I do it for the comfortability of others. Seated at dinner, I had several individuals ask me what I do. I paused and said that I travel, speak and teach and some would consider me a life coach. I consciously avoided the words, “psychic, medium, spiritual growth coach, spiritual teacher.”

The experience left me feeling “less than” although I knew it was appropriate. I am more than conscious of what I am doing. I talk and teach a lot about being who you are, shining your Light bright, letting go of what other people think of you….and I recognize that I periodically “fail” in this area.

Does it feel good to do so? No!!!! Then, why do I do it? I don’t know. Playing small doesn’t serve anyone.
I am a spiritual being having a human life experience. I’m human! Christina Perri sums it up well in her song, “Human.”

Spirit provided me with the perfect opportunity today to confidently stand in my power. While out running errands, I visited the grocery store.  I passed by one of the employees. We greeted one another. Even though I had a list, I forgot something and had to pass by her again. This time she inquired about my kids’ graduation. I happily shared, then thought to ask her how she was doing. She looked me in the eyes and conveyed that yesterday was difficult. She had lost her son in a motorcycle accident nearly a year ago.

In that moment, Spirit gave me the courage to share with her. I asked her if she knew what I did, and she did not. Most people in the community I live do not know what I do. I took into consideration her religious beliefs and acknowledged them. Then, I began telling her what I saw and felt. She thanked me, and I thanked Spirit for this beautiful opportunity to share a message. The fear of what she would think immediately dissipated in one moment and only love remained. I gained the courage to release the fear of what she would think.

I invite you to read Honoring Our Journey and Journey into Consciousness YOUR Way. The people around us may not understand us or have the same belief system. That’s okay! Each one of us are experiencing our OWN unique human life experience. Have compassion for one another, but most of all have compassion for yourself. Celebrate every breath of life, every moment of being, every challenge and opportunity for learning and growth. This is your life to live! Enjoy the journey and celebrate being YOU!

This is MY journey, and I am grateful!
