Creating a Conscious Ripple

Our human life experience is comprised of moments we experience, which encompasses a spectrum of emotions as well as opportunities to learn and grow. As energetic beings having a human experience in physical form, we operate, function and respond from our level of awareness and consciousness. Everyone experiences life in different ways, is immersed and sometimes enmeshed in their own reality, has their own perception, level of awareness and way of receiving information.

Vibration, frequency and resonance are aspects of understanding energy. I often say, “Everything is energy and awareness is everything.” The energy frequency that we vibrate at is what we broadcast out to the world around us. Therefore, what we focus on can become our reality. The radio signals we are emitting include our self-talk and the other extraneous thoughts running through our mind as well as our emotions.

In order to tune in to the energy that surrounds us, it’s a good idea to have an awareness of our own energetic emission. What energetic emission/radio transmission are you sending out? Does your energy feel focused and grounded or scattered and imbalanced? Loving and grateful or fearful and worried? Empowered or dis-empowered? Confident or clingy and needy? Stable or unstable? Joyful and happy or unhappy? Light and bright or dense and heavy? Please know that one is not better or worse; they are simply contrasts of the other.

Once we are aware of how our own energy and the energies around us feel to us, we do have the ability to transmute it based on our viewpoint and how we choose to respond. Shifting energy is truly a matter of changing how we perceive a situation, experience, person, place or thing. Also, practicing compassion and understanding will shift energy as well. Using the radio station metaphor, we can tune in to the radio station of our choosing based on our music preferences. We can also switch to another channel if we don’t care for the song that is playing in that moment. In the olden days, a little more effort was required to dial in to the radio station; whereas now, a push of a button is all that it takes. Let’s liken it to being as easy as simply changing our thoughts.

We are afforded the opportunity to consciously create the life we desire based on our energetic emission and what we choose to focus on as well as our intention behind the creation. When we shift our perception, we can change our life, including those experiences from the past, the ones we are presently experiencing and those that have yet to happen. This transformation involves altering our mindset and attitude as well as being mindful of our thoughts, words and actions. Beloved spiritual teacher, Wayne Dyer, reminds us that “our intention creates our reality.” An intention can be a plan, a goal or an emotion infused into an idea; it is often thought of as why or how we do what we do.

With so much heavy and chaotic energy surrounding us, I believe that we need to focus on the energy of love and do our best to let love lead the way. We are doing this not just for ourselves, but also for the collective consciousness. This powerful loving intention is heart-based and reminds us to stay in a space of grace, especially when faced with challenges. Love is always accessible, unconditional and unfaltering. It transcends, yet also embraces.

Each one of us is creating a ripple by letting our love flow and embracing the magic within. We are planting the seeds of intention with loving kindness and watching them bloom and grow. Choosing to embody heart-centered consciousness provides us with an opportunity to welcome each moment with openness and kindness, and to love whatever arises. Understandably, this concept may be difficult to fathom, especially if someone is experiencing a challenging situation, facing a health diagnosis or even stressing about financial insecurity.

As we know, conscious means being aware and awake. A ripple effect is defined as the continuing and spreading results of an event or action. It is a situation in which one event produces effects which spread and produce further effects. Take a moment and imagine within your mind that you are throwing a rock into water. Once the rock begins to sink, you can visually see the ripple that it created in the water. The smaller the rock, the smaller the ripple. Understandably, the bigger the rock, the bigger the ripple. Regardless, a ripple is created.

Remember, we are all drops in the proverbial ocean of Oneness. Everything we think, say and do is creating a ripple. What does it mean to create a conscious ripple? Very simply, it means that you are aware of your energetic emission. You are choosing to generate more positive energy and have a positive attitude knowing that your positive actions will inspire others as well. The Dalai Lama encourages us with his words on this topic. He says,Just as ripples spread out when a single pebble is dropped into water, the actions of individuals can have far-reaching effects.”

Here are some ways you can be a positive ripple:

  • Allow others to have their own beliefs and make their own choices
  • Feel empowered to be who you are
  • Practice the Golden Rule – Do unto others as you would have them do unto you
  • See experiences from a Higher soul perspective
  • Acknowledge the blessings within the challenges
  • Smile more
  • Greet people when you cross paths with them
  • Offer kind words and compliments to others
  • Hold the door for someone
  • Invite someone to go ahead of you at the checkout line
  • Practice kindness with words, gestures and acts – think Random Acts of Kindness
  • Help those in need — friends, family, co-workers and people you don’t know
  • Be kind to animals and all living things
  • Thank your police and fire departments, public services, medical providers, teachers, etc.
  • Donate your time, money or items you no longer use to a charitable cause
  • Recycle, pick up trash and take care of Mother Earth
  • Bless a friend, family member or coworker with a small gift for no reason in particular
  • Write a letter or verbally express to someone the impact they have had in your life
  • Express love and appreciation to others
  • Let someone know that you are thinking of them
  • Embrace your own magic within

There are many more ways we can each be a positive ripple. Planting the seeds of intention is all it takes and then to begin taking action as we grow those seeds. Expressing love and sharing kindness takes such a small effort, yet has an enormous effect. This ripple of love and compassion surpasses anything anyone could imagine if they would simply allow the love to flow. Our conscious and even unconscious actions — something we do knowingly and unknowingly —  are helping to shift others with the ripple effect. What ripple are you creating?

In closing, I would like to share this powerful quote from Danielle Doby with you. She states, “Ripples. When you create a difference in someone’s life, you not only impact their life, you impact everyone influenced by them throughout their entire lifetime. No act is ever too small. One by one, this is how to make an ocean rise.”
