Where is the Love

I’ve refrained from expressing my thoughts on what is consistently in our face, but now is the time. I assure you this blog isn’t intended to persuade you to vote for one candidate or another. It is simply a call for awareness.

I chose to watch 40 minutes of the presidential debate last night, then retired to bed. Needless to say, my ensuing dreams were quite “jacked up” for lack of a better way of saying it. Upon awakening, I had so many thoughts of what I needed to share.

I’ve been repeatedly listening to The Black Eyed Peas song, “Where is the Love,” for the last hour.

First of all, to me, everything that we experience or observe as a witness is a call for awareness. I have acknowledged for some time that the political “race” is a catalyst for transformation with the “key” players playing a role as archetypes that we can apply to our own lives as well as to humanity as a whole.

In addition, I perceive that our political candidates are also archetypes that represent many aspects of people’s shadow.

The people in our lives are there to show us us – to highlight the shadows we need to own, the wounds we need to heal, the outdated beliefs we need to unconceal and shift, so that we can be our fullest and most loving self. ~ Kelley Kosow of The Ford Institute

Now that I’ve shared that, my mind is boggled and my heart hurts, and it’s time to say “What the hell is going on? Can’t we all just get along?” Do we have to be so vile, hateful, hurtful (insert your word choice here) or can we honor one another during this political election? I have Facebook friends who have gone so far as to post as their status that if you are voting for the other choice, then go ahead and unfriend them now. Seriously? Have we gone to that extreme that we are taking sides? Where is the love?

I absolutely believe in free speech, but I also recognize that tolerance, compassion and free will are equally important. Each one of us is encased in our own “reality bubble.” It is inevitable that our perspective is going to be different than another. Culture and conditioning do play a role in this. Is there really ever a “right” or “wrong” choice or can we just look at what is right for us right now? Can we agree to disagree?

Please do your best and stay in the heart-space. Allow others to have their own beliefs, make their own choices. Feel empowered to be who you are. Practice the Golden Rule and do unto others as you would have them do unto you. See experiences from a higher soul perspective. Maybe this election is a HUGE test from the Spiritual Broadcasting System.

For those who may be wondering about my own beliefs and where I stand –
  • I am a registered Republican, but have voted for the Democratic party the last 4 elections.
  • I am Pro-Choice, but believe in the Right to Live as well as the Right to Die.
  • I was raised Baptist, have been saved and baptized, but do not have a religious affiliation. I do not recall the last time I labeled myself a Christian. I do resonate with and gravitate towards Unity, CSL and Spiritualist teachings.
  • I believe All Lives Matter.

I offer you peace. I offer you love. I offer you friendship. I see your beauty. I hear your need. I feel your feelings. My wisdom flows from the Highest Source. I salute that Source in you. Let us work together for unity and love. ~ Mahatma Gandhi
