Choosing to Change the Way you Look at Things

Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change. ~ Wayne Dyer

I have been intending to blog for some time now, but haven’t actually taken the time to write down the thoughts that go through my mind. For several years, I felt obligated to write since I was a contributor for an online magazine, and they requested regular article submissions in order to remain a part of the proverbial team. In reality, inspiration is required and essential or the words will feel forced (at least to me anyway). I have found myself writing while I dream and knew it was a clear indicator to begin putting the words on paper or shall I say typing in a Word document.

At the beginning of this year, I received an email inviting me to join a well-known psychic network. I didn’t “jump at the opportunity” until out of the blue, a trusted friend and colleague suggested that I consider it. He didn’t know that I had received an invite. The main challenge holding me back was that I could not be me – Shelly Wilson. I had to select a psychic name and be someone else.

After filling out the required paperwork, completing and passing the two test readings and going through training, it was official March 15. Choosing the name was a strenuous process and none of the names on the list really resonated with me. I picked one that sounded unique and heavenly and diligently worked the line as Psychic Evanly for the next few weeks and dreaded every moment of it. Eventually, I quit scheduling time to work. They contacted me several times and finally my contract was terminated in the fall due to my inability to commit to 5 hours a week. I was so relieved and thankful that my time with them was over.

There was nothing within me that was excited or passionate about the experience, but I also recognize that it was necessary for my own growth. I know they needed people who were willing to log in and take calls since that is how they generated revenue. On the other hand, I am grateful to be listed on Bob Olson’s Directory and can log in any time I wish to provide instant readings via phone or chat. The energy feels much better, and most importantly, I can be me! Even this example is a reminder that we are all quite capable of changing the way we view an experience.

The way you look at things is the most powerful force in shaping your life. ~ John O’Donohue

As I’ve stated many times, each one of us are spiritual beings having a human life experience. We operate, function and respond from our level of awareness and consciousness. Being true to ourselves while honoring other people’s life experience and journey is important, too.

Keep in mind that you are the observer as well as the observed. Sometimes, we will see a particular person or situation. Then, we truly begin to see them, and many times, it is in a much different way than before.

With these simple words, the Serenity Prayer offers us wisdom and encouragement: “God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”

I believe we only have control of our own thoughts, words, actions, emotions and reactions (how we wish to respond to a situation). Other people are who they are, and you can’t change them. They must choose change for themselves. By allowing them to have their human life experience and accepting them as they are (even though you might not like or agree with their choices) is huge in regards to our own spiritual evolution.

One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things. ~ Henry Miller

On that topic, I recently did an email reading and am compelled to share the response I provided as I feel the guidance is wisdom that can pertain to many people and situations. The question inquired about a particular individual. This is my response:

First, I’m hearing to convey, “Give him time.” I don’t feel he has forgotten you nor has written you off, but he is making a point. He’s saying – I don’t need drama. Just like/love me for who I am. Let me be me.

You can use the experience as one to learn from or not. The choice is yours. Ask yourself though – are you truly ok with whatever happens? This isn’t a good or bad, yes or no type of answer. It is mainly an opportunity for you to get in touch with yourself (that’s how I’m hearing to convey it to you).

He feels fun and definitely has an adventurous spirit. Your perception is that he is immature. Perhaps, he is just fun-loving, in tune with his inner child, living life to the fullest and even sometimes on the edge. Maybe he is exactly what you are needing right now. What are you afraid of?

If you can, just focus on being true to you and being your authentic self. Communicate clearly and effectively and have fun. Then, see where doing so takes you.

When you are able to get out of your head (and let go of fear and past relationship patterns), then you will have a fulfilling relationship. I do feel love is there for you. Start with you. Main thing is be the person you want to attract.

We are all just passing through, and experiences such as this definitely remind us that life is short, and we should absolutely make the most of it. Everything can change in a moment……

With that said, recognize that a simple change in perspective can shift energy instantaneously, which may also change the appearance of what you are viewing.
